Today is Martin's one month birthday. In the Singapore Chinese community that is cause for celebration. It is the end of the mother's confinement period (which I did NOT do) and is usually celebrated by giving out cakes. We will be giving cake gift certificates to my work colleagues and Oliver's teachers.
Martin is over 10 pounds now by my estimation (i.e weigh myself holding Martin then not holding him). He loves nursing, the sling, a clean diaper and lying down. He hates the car seat, stroller, sitting and sleeping straight from 3am to 7am. He's pretty sweet tempered and doesn't cry without reason.
We decided to do a nice dinner and have a cake for dessert, too bad Martin couldn't have any. Here we all are. Don't mind me, my hair is wet from swimming.
The lovely card at the beginning of this post was made by my cousin Tracy. She also married a man of Chinese descent and has 2 little boys. I probably haven't seen her in over 20 years, but she sent Martin a lovely gift and card. Tracy, you always have a place to stay in Singapore.
