Visit in Winnipeg

Lianne just sent me the photos from our afternoon we spent in Winnipeg with her, so I thought I'd share also.

We had a great time. Weather was absolutely beautiful (one of our few nice weather days). As we had already visited, through a double date night previously, we were able to just relax and enjoy the kids.

Oliver and Bianca got along great. Martin and Sophia, well, not as well, but they had to share a play pen.

Double Date Night

Mom and Dad (well Mom volunteered, Dad acquiesced) to babysit the boys so we could go out and actually visit.

So on Thursday we went to The Keg with Lana and Brent. I love The Keg. It's just my style. Joe and Brent talked a lot of business, so Lana and I chatted until we called them on it. It was a really nice time, and I hope we can do it again next time.

Last night, we went out for dinner with Lianne and Jeff. Lianne lived down the street when we were growing up, and I've been friends with her since grade 4. Since I'm not going to reveal her age (and thus reveal mine - though I think it's on the blog), let's just say we have known each other for a couple of years. That too was a very enjoyable time, though again, I spoke mostly with Lianne. I guess we don't know how to converse in foursome anymore, just twosome.

Oliver was very very good for Mom and Dad. Martin, well, let's just say that he enjoyed staying up with Grandma and Grandpa and being held the entire time.

A nice visit

Kristi, Tyson, Cass and Paul came for a visit this week. They arrived late on Friday night / Saturday morning.

On Saturday we had a nice pancake breakfast and went to see the zoo. They were impressed (as everyone always is), and we went out to Clarke's Quay for dinner with just the adults. (Oliver spent the next couple of nights telling us how much he missed us that night.)

Sunday, we had a birthday party in the morning, and then we met up at the Botanical Gardens and went and saw the orchids. They were impressive as always. Of course, the Cool House is a big hit.

Monday they spent the day at Sentosa Island, and have seen more of it that we have (that's not hard). Tuesday the boys went golfing at my friend's fancy golf club, and the girls relaxed. In the evening they did the Night Safari.

On Wednesday, I took the day off work, and it piss poured rain. Or as the British would say "it was chucking it down". We did the Hippo tours - the Heritage and the City, but didn't get off due to the rain. Afterwards, us girls went and did some shopping (I got a new swim suit).

Today the boys went golfing again, and Kristi and Cassandra toured around Chinatown and Little India. We went out to the Newton Hawker centre for dinner.

And they are off tomorrow morning for Hawaii.

Thanks so much for visiting us, we had a great time!!!

A visit from an old friend

Many many years ago (14 by Jane's calculation), I went on a Contiki tour of Europe to celebrate being finished university. Never one to not do something as I don't have someone to go with, I went by myself.

On that trip, I became good friends with two Australian sisters Belinda and Jane. It was one of those intense friendships during the moment, where you just "click" and have a wonderful time. We've kept touch over sporadically the years (thank you email!). And Jane was swinging through Singapore on the way back home from a holiday in the UK. She came over for dinner. It was very nice seeing her again and getting all caught up. Even more incentive now to make that vacation to Australia!!

Here's a picture of us from tonight. We haven't aged a day. I swear.

They are here!!

Our friends, Gary, Linda and Adam arrived in Singapore Sunday night. They are moving here, and Gary will be working for the same company as me. Different division though.

We know them from Nassau, and we are quite good friends with them. I'm very happy that they have moved here because it's always been a goal of Gary's to work and live in Asia, and it's great to have some close friends.

They are Canadian, and both Gary and Linda have lived in Winnipeg. You know they are good people then.

Welcome to Singapore!!!!
